Family Goals for the Christmas Season

I saw this on Making Time for Mommy and I thought it was a great idea. Here is our Christmas "To-Do" list.

  • Eat the chocolate from our Advent Calendar
  • Make Christmas Cookies a few times
  • Visit Santa
  • Have family photos taken (check)
  • See the lights at Atlanta Botanical Gardens
  • See the lights at Calloway Gardens
  • Make our Gingerbread house
  • Send out Christmas Cards
This year the Holiday Season seems so festive. I think it is because Maddy is of an age now where she can enjoy so much more. I have managed to finish all of my Christmas before December even hit. I am ready for finals to be over and for Christmas to be here!

Weirder than Marshmallows review and giveaway!

Weirder than Marshmallows was a great, funny, quick read. It is basically a collection of short essays about every day experiences with people. "Ignorance, lack of common sense, and downright inhuman stupidity run rampant in this country and around the world. I watch people, and I hear stories, and they beg, beg, beg to be mocked and ridiculed." is my favorite quote in the book.
It only took me about an hour to read, which is perfect for my busy schedule! Unfortunately, the author has since passed away so this will be the only book by him. That is sad because he is/was such a witty person! It is a great quick read.
If you would like a chance to read this book, simply leave a comment below and I will select a winner on 12/10!

I received one or more of the products mentioned above for free using Tomoson.com. Regardless, I only recommend products or services I use personally and believe will be good for my readers.

Roots only Review!!

I was recently offered the chance to review the Roots Only! product.
If you are someone who colors your hair at home, you know how difficult it is to just do the roots and not the rest of the head. You mix the hair color into the bottle and then just squirt on your roots. It takes only 5 minutes to apply and can be used on any type of hair. The best part is that you don't have to section your hair, the comb does it for you! This will save you so much money over going to the salon! I loved the results and so will you!

I received one or more of the products mentioned above for free using Tomoson.com. Regardless, I only recommend products or services I use personally and believe will be good for my readers.

Slice Safety Cutter Review

I was recently given the Slice Safety Cutter to review. It is meant to cut coupons and other items simpler with more safety. One key thing I liked it that it has a hole on it for you to put on your keychain, so you can cut coupons at the grocery store or on the go!

It is also magnetic, so you can put it on your fridge so it is easy to find. I loved how easy it was to cut out coupons or really anything with it! You should check out http://www.sliceproducts.com/ for tons of other wonderful products! I received one or more of the products mentioned above for free using Tomoson.com. Regardless, I only recommend products or services I use personally and believe will be good for my readers.

Kroger's new Private Selection Line of Frozen Foods.

I was provided three different products to try through BzzAgent, the chocolate lava cakes, vanilla cream puffs, and the BBQ Chicken Pizza.

Their pizza lines are flat bread pizza in an oblong shape. The crust was perfect. Loved it. The BBQ chicken was just ok. The chicken flavoring seemed a little weird and the sauce was too much. However, I would buy it again. I also bought the pepperoni and roasted garlic, but I haven't tried it yet.

My favorite item was the vanilla cream puffs. Ohmigoodness, these were yummy. I could have almost eaten the whole box myself. I served them for Thanksgiving and they went pretty quickly. They were super creamy and tasted amazing. I have no criticisms for these.

The chocolate lava cakes were good. I didn't think they were very lava-like, more like chocolate cake with some fudge in it. It did satisfy my chocolate craving. I would buy them again.

The Truly Awesome Chocolate Chip Cookie!

I was recently given the chance through BzzAgent to try out Kroger's new The Truly Awesome Chocolate Chip Cookie. These cookies were so yummy! *I received the product for free but all opinions are 100% mine*
My daughter really enjoyed being able to eat these. She would even point to them to inform me she wanted another one! I loved them with milk. But they were also great to eat plain!
These were just as good if not better than the brand name cookies, but for a much better price. There was a perfect amount of chocolate chips in each cookie. I would have preferred for them to be softer, but that is just my preference. I am usually not a fan of store bought cookies, but I would totally buy these again.
The packaging was good, but I prefer the brand name packaging. This packaging will let the cookies go stale quicker. But that isn't a problem for families that will eat the cookies up quickly.
        Overall, super super yummy!

Stupidity of Black Friday and Cyber Monday

Don't get me wrong, I love black friday. I love the excitement of shopping in the middle of the night. But people are stupid.

Who pepper sprays other shoppers for an XBOX? Really? How much does that say about what your priorities in life are? Who runs over a child for shopping deals?

Also, the sales were not that good this year. There were some good deals, but actually we saw much better sales the week before thanksgiving!

Here in America, we really need a reality check sometimes!

Natural Selection Book Review & Giveaway

Natural Selection ~ Forces of Nature ~ Book One

What do you do when you find out your family isn't your family, death is knocking at your door, and that guy you can't stop thinking about knows more about who you are than you do? Amelia Hoffman was just a normal 15 year old until she found out the truth. Now ancient myths, supernatural beings, and murder have changed everything. Tests and school dances are no longer the biggest worry in her life-- she has to figure out how to save everyone she loves and accept the future in front of her before its too late.

This is such a great book! I loved reading it. The book is designed for young adults, but it was good even for adults!

Therabreath Review and Giveaway

I was given the opportunity to review some of TheraBreath's toothpaste, mouthwash, and lozenges! All of them are designed to prevent and treat bad breath. I was not familiar with TheraBreath prior to this review. But I am very thankful I was given the chance to review these wonderful products!
Fresh Breath Toothpaste

I really liked their toothpaste. First, let me state that I am a toothpaste snob. I really usually only use one brand because I don't like the taste of others. However with TheraBreath that is not an issue. I liked the taste or rather lack of a taste. This product really does not have much taste to it, which I liked. Another plus is that it does not contain any sodium lauryl sulfate. I have been trying to cut out sulfates, so this was a great product for us.
I also liked their Fresh Breath Oral Rinse. This product also contains no sodium lauryl sulfate, saccharin, aspartame, or artificial colors or flavors. I love the fact that it was natural. It is a rinse that is watery, but in a good way. There was no bite, which I hate in most rinses!

While the other two products did not have too much taste. the fresh breath lozenges had a ton of taste! They are minty fresh and yummy. Great for getting rid of bad breath.

TheraBreath is also has products for the prevention of canker sores. Check them out when you get a chance.

GIVEAWAY: ThereBreath is giving one lucky reader a tube of Toothpaste and a bottle of their oral rinse.

Review and GIVEAWAY: Prefense Hand Sanitizer

I was super excited to get a chance to review Prefense Non-Alcohol Hand Sanitizer. Can you believe one squirt will work for the entire day! But the thing I love the best about Prefense is the fact that it is nontoxic, which is perfect for my daughter's daycare. After sampling the sanitizer for a few days, I gave it to my daughter's teacher. They are constantly in need of hand sanitizer. Anyways, back to the pluses!!! Prefense is made from silica, which is a natural compound already found in our bodies. This keep our skin smooth and soft while protecting us from germs.

One thing I am not a fan of regular sanitizer is the fact that it dries out my hands! But Prefense does not do that! It also feels as if it is a moisturizer! Prefense kills 99.9% of bacteria, which is much needed in cold and flu season!

Burt's Bee's Natural Skin Solutions Review! Free Samples Possible

I was recently given the chance through BzzAgent to try out Burt's Bees Natural Skin Solutions. First let me disclaim that I received the product for free but all opinions expressed in this review are 100% mine! I was provided with the face wash and moisturizer.

I am totally in love with the face wash. Not only does it not break my skin out AT ALL, even after two weeks of use, but it smells so good. The level of foaming is just about perfect. The first time I washed with it, I noted that my skin did not feel dried out at all afterwards.

The moisturizer was just the right amount of moisture. It did feel a bit heavy to me going on, but that helped it last all day. There was no need to reapply at all. Plus, when I put on makeup it helped to smooth it out. There was no oiliness at all, not when I first put it on and not hours later!

If you would like a free sample of the moisturizer and a coupon, please leave a comment with your email and I will get the sample out to you! Please note: I have a limited number of samples available so it will be on a first come first serve basis.

Donate to a family in need

I am copying this post from www.MrsNespysWorld.com! I thought it would be a great idea!!!

Hey guys! The Love Drop team is at it again! They just came back from the Boston area where they dropped $5,000 worth of appliances and gifts to a woman who recently got hit by a car and is recovering in a wheelchair, and THIS month they're trying to round up the love for precious newborn triplets!

Popout

We want to help Jeff and Becca (the parents) prepare to bring them home from the hospital, as all three were born very underweight and are currently in the Neonatal ICU (they're doing great though! And will be coming home soon). With four children already, adding a surprise batch of triplets is going to put considerable financial strain on the family, and that's where we come in!

Let's help give them everything they need to welcome the triplets home, including diapers, food, furniture, gift cards - any cool baby stuff you can think of. We're shooting for at least $3,000 in cash, plus gifts.

Want to help? Here are five ways you can participate:
  • Give $1.00 - This money will help go to their family, and every dollar counts!
  • Give a gift card - Gift cards are extremely helpful. Places like Target, Wal-mart, restaurants, etc would be incredible. out.
  • Give a gift or service - Anything you can do to help this family out would be appreciated! Be creative!
  • Donate baby stuff! - Specifically diapers, formula and clothes. Gift cards here are awesome too. (Or maybe you have contacts in the baby world?)
  • Share this site with others – Tweet about Love Drop, Facebook “like” it, and share it with any friends or family you think would be interested. The more we get the word out, the more we can help the triplets! :)
Money is always needed, but the cool factor comes when people start giving creatively. Tell us how you want to give, and we’ll make it happen!

You can reach the Love Drop team here anytime with questions or by checking them out at LoveDrop.us. Thanks everyone! We'll let you know how it goes!

Real Moms Love To Eat!!!! Review and Sweepstakes

Here at MommaMoney we love to support other mom bloggers and small businesses! Beth Aldrich is coming out with a great book in January! It is called Real Moms Love to Eat. The book is all about loving food and losing weight at the same time. This book really spoke with me because I love food. I love cooking for my family including desserts, but I still need to lose some post baby weight!!

One great part about the book is that it contains a 21 days of recipes, tips, and lifestyle changes. I am looking forward to discovering new foods and continuing on my love affair with food.

Beth Aldrich has a great blog, Real Moms Love to Eat, you should check it out. She is also hosting a Sweepstakes that you can enter. She is giving away prizes twice a month. If you pre-order the book you will get one entry and if you sign up for her newsletter you get a second entry.

Disclosure: I was gifted a free copy of the book and an affiliate swag bag for my participation.

Top ways to keep your family healthy through cold and flu season.

Many of you know that I have a wonderful 18 month old toddler named Madalyn. Well, Madalyn goes to daycare and comes home with all the germs she has gathered from the other wonderful toddlers. I am in law school and stuck in rooms with hundreds of other students. We all share germs. The last thing I want to do is have to take a day off of school to take care of a sick baby and if you are a stay at home mom probably the last thing you want is to be sick while having to take care of kids! So here are some tips for staying well!

  1. Make sure you wash your hands plenty. I love using the Lysol Healthy Touch No Hands Soap Dispenser. This makes it easy to wash without touching and spreading germs. You should wash for at least 20 seconds or as long as it takes to sing the Happy Birthday song twice!
  2. Make sure you disinfect highly touched areas of your house. I try to spray down all door handles once a day. I make sure the counter tops are cleaned everyday with disinfecting spray.
  3. Get plenty of rest. As moms, we are always doing hundreds of things and not necessarily taking care of ourselves. I learned this well this past week. Make sure you are getting at least 7-8 hours of sleep a night and eating your fruits and veggies!
  4. Remove your shoes as soon as you enter the house. We are lucky to have hardwood floors downstairs, but I do not want to have all the dirt from outside trapped in the carpet. We also make sure we mop the floors at least a week.
  5. If you are sick, stay home from work or school. It is easier for one person to get over sickness than for an entire class to try to get over it. It just drags out the recovery period.
  6. Get your flu shot!!!!!  Like Lysol® on Facebook and get a flu shot badge and an opportunity to receive a $5 flu shot rebate. Learn more about the flu rebate at www.lysol.com/flufree123
  7. If one person in your family is sick, try to limit who is around them. If dad is sick, perhaps just mom should help him. If one child is sick, try to keep them away from other children.
  8. Avoid touching your eyes, mouth, and nose. This just spreads germs more.
  9. Always use a tissue to wipe your nose. Do not continue to reuse that tissue instead throw it away as soon as you wipe your nose.
  10. Getting moderate exercise and proper nutrition are great ways to strengthen your immune system.
Keeping my family healthy and happy is one of my biggest goals as I am sure it is for most moms and dads! The best way to prevent the flu is to follow these points and make sure you have a flu vaccine. Everyone 6 months and older should have been given the immunization.

Bil-Jac Super Premium Dog Food

I was recently allowed the chance to review Bil-Jac Super Premium Dog Food through BzzAgent. As some of you know, I have three dogs. A large pit/lab, a doberman, and a pug. In other words, we go through a lot of dog food in our house.

The major thing I love about Bil Jac is the fact that in a 5 lb bag of dog food there is 4 lbs of ACTUAL chicken. Many of the cheaper dog foods, put in Chicken By-Product and corn as their major ingredients.

Also, my pit/lab mix, Chubbs, has allergies to many different types of food. His skin goes red and yucky. But Bil-Jac offers a great Sensitive formula that worked great with his allergies.

Bil-Jac is available on many websites such as Wag, Amazon, Dog, Pet Food Direct, etc. You can also buy Bil-Jac at most pet speciality stores.

Disclosure: I received a coupon to try this product for free. However, this post is 100% my opinion.

An update on my life!!!

Someone gave me the idea to blog about events in our lives so that in a few years we will remember all the good events of our life! So I thought I would give a update!!!

Me- I have been super busy adjusting back to school and work! (Hence the lack of blog posts!) I am working for a public defender this semester and it has turned out to be some great work. The reason I got to get caught up today is that I am home sick with a bad sinus infection. I am excited to be only around 220 days away from the end of my law school career. Unfortunately with the beginning of the third year, the bar application starts. Now, this isn't a simple application! Oh no, you basically have to turn over every detail of your entire life and hope they allow you to sit for the exam! So life is busy around here!
I have also embarked on a big weight loss journey (unfortunately being sick meant getting off that train!) I am bound and determined to lose 15 lbs by Christmas! (Just in time to gain it back!)

Billy- He really hasn't been up to too much! Just working and trying to take care of his two girls. He has been great about taking Maddy to day care and picking her up while I don't feel well. I also am forcing him to keep me on track with this weight loss by working out with me!

Maddy- I cannot believe next week she is going to be 18 months old! How did that happen? It still seems like yesterday that I found out I was pregnant with her! She is running everywhere and talking up a storm. Her vocabulary is growing day by day! I took out same baby clothes to sort the other day and could not believe she ever fit into the newborn clothes! It is exciting to see but I am missing her being little. She is growing up too fast.
She loves her K-1 class. They have taught her the word apple and ball so far this school year. She was also pointing out the color red.

Well thats all I have for now! What has been going on in your life???

Sorry for the lack of posts!

I have been super busy and have failed to be posting! I have a few reviews and giveaways coming up!

Dark Corners Review and Giveaway

I was recently given the opportunity to review Dark Corners by Liz Schulte. First, let me disclose that suspense is not my type of genre, but I LOVED this book. I couldn't put it down. I read the entire thing in less than a day!

Ella's husband was murdered very violently in their house. She believes he may have been killed by a ghost because she cannot get over the feeling that someone or something is watching her 24/7. A year has gone by with no arrests and no answers in her husband's murder, so Ella decides it is time to take the investigation into her own hands. The discovery is unbelievable!

This is very different from many other suspense novels that I have read. I must say this is an incredibly interesting book and the editors have been so gracious to give a copy to one of my readers.

Giveaway: One lucky reader will win a copy of Dark Corners. The winner can choose between an ebook and a paper copy.

The book tour is also giving away a signed copy, $20 Amazon gift card, and a $20 Barnes and Noble Gift Card. Enter here

Today is my last day for spending!

My husband has challenged me to one month of no spending. We are able to buy gas for the cars and pay bills. But no grocery shopping, no clothes shopping. No extras!

Can I do it?

Free Makeup Bag at Target

Target's Sample Spot is once away giving away make up bags filled with samples. These are great because they also come stocked with coupons!!!

The basics of saving money!

So everyday for the next week or so I am going to post about the simple basics of how to save money. Lately, friends have been asking me how I manage to save all of this money, so I thought I would start a small series!

1. Do NOT make assumptions about prices. This is with stores, brands, etc. For instance, just because Wal-mart advertises that they have the lowest prices. This is not true. Do not assume that a store brand is always cheaper than a brand name. Also, do not assume that a brand name is cheaper with a coupon then a store brand. Take 5 minutes and do the math!

2. Always pair coupons with sales! If an item isn't on sale, save the coupon until it goes on sale!

3. Follow blogs that do coupon matchups for your favorite stores. I love www.iheartpublix.com and www.totallytarget.com. If you google your favorite store, you will find one. These bloggers put a LOT of time into these matchups!

4. When you make your shopping list, check out a coupon database, like ones at www.southernsavers.com, and you can search by the name! This is a great way to pair coupons with sales!

Stop by tomorrow for some more!
